"NEED A QUOTE FROM MARIA!  "
Priorities
Healthcare and Mental Health

Equal access to healthcare is a fundamental human right.  Our community deserves inclusive services irrespective of insurance status or income level.  Our community is thrilled to have a mental health center, but there is always more than we can do.  We need to present our services in a variety of languages and enhance our outreach to inform residents about what the county has to offer.  Additionally, residents of District 1 continue to struggle with transportation to access services in other parts of the county.  As a county board member, Maria pledges to champion equitable policies and increase accessibility for healthcare and mental health support.

Accessible Transportation

Approximately $2 million of our county budget has been earmarked for transportation infrastructure. This funding should be channeled toward enhancing transportation accessibility across the district, particularly in low-income areas where reliable commuting options can serve as a pathway to economic opportunity.  As a county board member, I am dedicated to enhancing DuPage County's transit system for greater accessibility. I will work collaboratively with our community leaders to establish a sustainable infrastructure that meets the evolving needs of our comunity while promoting environmental responsibility.

Economic Resilience

Our county board champions initiatives that foster arts, sports, and community events, generating both social and economic capital. It is essential that we continue to support our diverse workforce by NEED MORE INFORMATION.  As a County Board member, I will advocate for comprehensive healthcare, affordable housing, accessible community resources, equitable financial stewardship, and a strong union presence. Together, we can build a community that prioritizes the well-being and prosperity for all residents

Affordable Housing

Our commitment to affordable housing projects in Dupage County remains steadfast with a dedicated allocation of $2.5 million toward increasing affordable housing in DuPage County. It is imperative that these initiatives including offering affordable housing options to the residents of Addison, Bensenville, and Wood Dale.  Additionally, we must prioritize the needs of our most vulnerable populations incluidng children, survivors of domestic violence, veterans, and the unhoused popluations. I will advocate for the expansion of affordable housing grants ot safeguard the well-being of all residents in DuPage County as well as provide a multi-layered approach by pairing affordable housing with resources these communities are in need of.

WE NEED TO ENHANCE THIS SECTION - HIS ENTIRE THING IS BEING AN ATTORNEY AND DOING AFFORDABLE HOUSING STUFF

Safety

The safety and security of our community is of the utmost importance. It is vital that we approach the issue of community safety through a multi-faceted approach. While funding of law enforcement is important, polities should not wait until a party has been injured and police have been called to keep our communities safe. It is important to explore preventative programs, from accessibility to mental health services and services to provide for out community's basic needs. A preventative approach not only creates a truly safe environment for residents of DuPage County, but also protects our law enforcement officers.
